Common MYLE Questions & Answers
Q: Who can go to the
Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE)?
A: Any young people attending the Gathering who can
come early to….
 |
Seek to live in, and
live out, baptism’s gifts of right relationship with God
and with people of all ethnic backgrounds. |
 |

discernment and witness -- seeing, understanding, naming
and overcoming racism in the church and in the world, in
fidelity to God’s new creation (2
Corinthians 5:17). |

cross-cultural and multi-generational learning about all

in a beautifully diverse world.
|
Q: How much does it
cost? And what financial assistance might be available?
A: Registration fee for MYLE is $125 per person.
This covers housing, meals, and program.
For 2009, total financial
assistance for the Gathering has been more than doubled,
and can be accessed earlier in the registration process.
The Gathering has committed half of all its financial
assistance for young people of color who plan to attend
both MYLE and the Gathering. This financial assistance
covers 100% of the Gathering registration fee, which is
$295. Applications for Gathering financial assistance are due July
31, 2008, before Gathering and MYLE registration
opens on September 15. Recipients of financial assistance
will be notified by September 1 to help in planning for
Gathering registration.
Q: How do I
register?
A: Registration for MYLE
opens September 15, 2008
and closes January 15, 2009 (same as the Gathering),
or until full.
Registration must be done online. MYLE registration will be
monitored for intentional diversity. People who register for
this event will receive a confirmation after the Gathering
registration closes on January 15 that will let them know
their MYLE registration status.
PLEASE NOTE: The Gathering
staff will be working with congregations that have lost
power or computer access or have been displaced by the
recent hurricanes and flooding. Space will be held in the
interim to enable these congregations to register their
youth and adults.
Q: What if my
congregation is not going to MYLE but I still want to go?
A: No worries. Individuals can register for MYLE as
well as congregational groups. Gathering staff will connect
young people with a nearby congregational group for
community and safety purposes during the event. But please
do encourage others from your congregation to go with you as
it is more helpful for congregational teams to share in this
kind of ministry leadership together.
