Traveling
Light
 This August, while youth and
congregations of the ELCA were getting stirred up for registering for the
2009 Youth Gathering, Jesus Justice Jazz,
sisters and brothers of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC)
were… traveling light!
The triennial youth gathering of the
ELCIC, called
Travel Light,
was held in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, August 14-17. The
theme centered on our common Christian calling -- a counter-cultural
calling -- to a grace-filled life, more than a stuff-filled life. Check
out the amazingly articulate desires of the
youth
planners of this ministry.
The ELCA was represented by Keila
McCracken of Bemidji, MN and the Northwestern Minnesota Synod, a
member-at-large of the Board of the
Lutheran Youth Organization
who attended -- and LOVED! -- the 2006 ELCIC youth gathering held in
Winnipeg, Manitoba. Keila was joined by ELCA Youth Ministry Director
Bill Bixby.
