Instructions for using ELCA Web Feeds
Add Dynamically Changing ELCA Content To Your Web Site!
The ELCA is pleased to offer the following web feeds, free of charge, to any
web site that wishes to display dynamically changing content straight from the ELCA.
This service is fast, free, and requires no maintenance. Once the code is
correctly inserted into your web site, the latest content from the ELCA will
automatically appear without any additional time or effort on your part. Best of
all, the code behind this service is only one line long, making it
incredibly easy to implement into any web page!
There are currently four feeds available: ELCA News, Today's Bible Reading,
Today's Bible Verse, and ELCA Prayer Ventures. ELCA News displays the latest
news headlines from the ELCA straight into the feed. The rest of the feeds are
changed daily to help inspire your spiritual journey.
There are four main options for ELCA News that affect the display. The first three: Tall,
Small, and Wide, only change the shape of the feed. The 4th option, Custom, allows the
ability to customize a myriad of different settings. If you choose the custom option, you will be
sent to another instruction page explaining how to change the different settings.
Free-text and Boxed are the two different versions of feeds available for Today's Bible Reading,
Today's Bible Verse, and ELCA Prayer Ventures. The free-text version is meant to give the web
page designer ultimate control over the look of the feed. The free-text version is simply plain text in
which the web page designer can change the font, color, and size of the text, treating it just
like any other text on the page. For example, a web page designer may want to put the feed inside a table, may want to center-align it,
or both. With the free-text version, the web page designer has total control over the appearance of the feed. The boxed version,
on the other hand, is meant to give the web page designer an attractive feed without having to worry about extra code around it. This
is an ideal solution for web page designers who are not too familiar with HTML or who just want to implement a feed into their
web page quickly and easily.
