The Lutheran
Theological Center in Atlanta, is an extension program of the eight
seminaries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Founded to enrich and
expand the preparation of students for the parish ministry in the
ELCA, Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta provides unique study
opportunities in urban issues and diverse cultures. These experiences,
combined with a traditional seminary curriculum, make LTCA an exciting
new approach to preparation for ministry.
Located on the campus of the
Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), LTCA offers exceptional
educational resources through cross-registration in a vibrant
ecumenical and theological complex that also features Candler School
of Theology (United Methodist), Columbia Theological Seminary
(Presbyterian) and the Interdenominational Theological Center (a
consortium of six protestant seminaries). ITC is the largest
African-American seminary in the country.
A major historical and cultural city,
Atlanta offers attractions found only in metropolitan areas. In
addition to museums and educational resources such as a collection of
original Reformation era books and materials (housed at Candler School
of Theology), a variety of programs are available for the study of
intriguing modern issues: the Martin Luther King, Jr., Center; the
Carter Center; the Urban Training Organization of Atlanta; a large
medical community; and an educational community including Clark
Atlanta University, Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology,
Morehouse College, Morehouse Medical School, Morris Brown College, and
Spelman College.
