Welcome to The Great Permission information page. This asset-based process for stewarding your congregation’s maximum potential is outlined in this easy-to-read 140-page field guide sent to all ELCA congregations in Fall 2002. It includes theological background, case studies and how-tos for congregational leaders — all directed toward an asset-based approach to congregational life.

What difference will this make to my congregation?
With this approach you will discover you have more assets than you think. Your congregation’s culture will become more positive and hopeful.

How will this help my leadership?
After mapping their assets, your leaders will be ready to make decisions about what to do next and act quickly. They’ll have new energy for the tasks ahead because it’ll be fun!

Where can I get started?
Try this approach with your stewardship committee, congregational council, youth committee, adult forum series, or as a spiritual gifts inventory with new members.

How can I get more copies?
