Church in Society’s Department for Studies carries out preliminary work toward hosting a consultation and establishing a task force.

Executive director of Church in Society recommends the proposed social statement on genetics and its implementing resolutions to ELCA Church Council.

ELCA Church Council reviews text and acts to recommend a social statement on genetics with accompanying implementing resolutions and directs that these be placed on the Churchwide Assembly agenda.

Churchwide Assembly considers RECOMMENDED social statement and implementing resolutions for adoption.
