Stand against modern day slavery: $25 per unit. Some ELCA youth will have the opportunity to learn about issues of immigration, disaster recovery, work and living conditions for laborers, and justice. In the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, unknown numbers of immigrant workers were contacted to help rebuild New Orleans. Some workers were housed in deplorable conditions, given inadequate food, and threatened with deportation unless they worked harder. Youth will better understand the need for practicing compassionate justice in complicated, difficult situations.
