January 4-6, 2006
Franciscan Renewal Center

Scottsdale, Arizona

The topic for the 2006 Gathering is “Lutherans in Public” which is related both to an important concern of Lutheran ethics and to the ELCA’s emerging understanding of itself as a “public church.”  The papers and presentations at the gathering will help to inform a consultation sponsored by the editors of the theological journal, dialog, next August on the future of Lutheran theology in North America, particularly the section related to theological ethics.  The papers from the presentations at the Gathering will be considered for publication in either dialog or the Journal of Lutheran Ethics.  Copies of the papers will be distributed in advance in December for your reading prior to the meeting.  Presentations will be kept short to allow more time for discussion.

Now is the time to register for the 2006 Gathering of Lutheran Ethicists, January 4-6, 2006.
