Foreword from the booklet
The Rural Ministries Committee of Interchurch Ministries of Nebraska is a "proactive" committee with the following "Mission Statement":

The Church, as the Body of Christ, is called to reach out and witness to God's presence in our midst and the life and hope that God's presence brings.

In response to this, the Rural Ministries Committee of Interchurch Ministries of Nebraska seeks to empower congregations to grow in outreach ministry within their community so that not only the congregation themselves will be re-vitalized, but the entire community as well.

Following extensive prayer and discussion over a period of many months, the Committee agreed that one of the ways in which we could assist rural churches of our denominations was by collecting and publishing in loose-leaf notebook format materials submitted to us by denominations and persons having an interest in rural celebrations and rituals.

God bless your ministry as you serve the people living in rural areas.

"Ultimately, all of the Universe is part of a single family with God as our Father, the earth as our Mother (all life as we know it springs from the earth by the creative will of our Heavenly Father), and all the created order as siblings. Such a world view points to love, mutual respect, ecological concern, harmony, beauty and balance." (Native American)
