Zip Codes With Potential for Starting a New Congregation

This report provides a list of all ZIP Codes in the synod meeting several criteria that can be helpful when looking for potential locations for starting a new congregation. The most important ones are: (1) projected population growth between 2004 and 2009 of 3% or more and (2) having no ELCA congregations claiming the ZIP Code as their primary ZIP Code served.  The ZIP Codes are sorted from the fastest growing to slower growing.  The other demographic characteristics were chosen to assist choosing ZIP Codes with a lot of potential.  In the end, there is no substitute for knowing an area first hand.  The information comes from annual congregational report forms and census data.
