Reverend Stanley Combs
RELOCATION
SPURS GROWTH
Zion Lutheran Church, situated for almost 150 years in downtown
York, Pennsylvania, relocated to a growing area on the outskirts of
town for the sake of mission. It has become, once again, the center
of the community. Since 1994, Zion has grown from 90 to 1100
baptized members.

The Rev. Stanley Combs contributes
their growth to:
-
A
determination to be a Matthew 28 “cornerstone” church with its
commitment to outreach and evangelism.
- Meaningful and joyful worship
that helps connect people with the living Christ.
- Multiple use of the building by
the larger community.
- Supportive relationships with
the national church body, synod, and Mission Partners.
“In a nutshell,” says Pastor Combs,
“what made this relocation successful was that a core group of
members listened to the call to change.”
