Becoming a Leader

Does this sound like you?
Do you complete the picture?
Then we want you to consider becoming a mission developer!

Do you complete this picture?We suggest that you make the following contacts:

  • Your synod bishop, mission director or synod outreach committee to discuss how you could become a part of the picture;

  • Mission developers in your synod to discuss their ministries, noting that developers are both needed and placed in rural, urban, suburban and specialized settings, and;

  • The ELCA Evangelical Outreach and Congregational Mission unit for additional information, including the variety of ministries in the ELCA photo album, letting us know where your own ministry interests lie.

If you decide that you are ready to jump into the picture, you will need to be:

  • Interviewed by your synod mission director;

  • Nominated by your synod’s bishop and mission director;

  • Interviewed by a two-person team to mutually discern your gifts for mission development, and;

  • Open to the Holy Spirit for possible placement by the ELCA Evangelical Outreach and Congregational Mission and the synod located where a new development ministry matches your gifts.

Are you missing from the picture above? If you think you may be, give us a call or drop us a line — we'd love to talk to you about your calling.
