| Instruments
to make...
with some help from an adult!
Jingle sticks:
Metal
bottle caps top many bottles in Haiti and countries around the world,
including Coke, Sprite and other soft drinks. Used bottle caps are used
for many things, including instruments! Nail bottle caps loosely to a
small board (12 inches x 2 inches x 3/4 inches) so that they jingle-jangle
when it is shaken.
Rain sticks:
Make rain
sticks from paper-towel or wrapping-paper tubes. Cover one end of the tube
with tape or paper. Push nails (with dull points) or twigs through the
tube. Add some lentils. Cover the other end. Turn the tubes from side to
side to make a train of sound!
Rhythm sticks:
Make rhythm
sticks from toilet-paper tubes. Close one end of the tube with tape, and
add some lentils, beans, sand, or small stones. Close the other end.
Drums:
Almost any
round container - oatmeal box, plastic bucket, Tupperware, tubing, etc. -
can make a drum. Use different sizes and shapes to make a drum
"choir." |
