People of all races, cultures, ages, and
socio-economic groups who often speak in different languages spoke with one voice when members of the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.), the Reformed Church in America and the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America came together to celebrate diversity and inclusivity at the Spirit of Wholeness in Christ: A Racial Ethnic
Multicultural Event.
This event was a result of the partnership of ethnic specific/racial
ethnic, racial justice, and multicultural staff in CARE (Communion
Agreement Racial Ethnic) group. This relationship is built on the
foundation of the Formula of Agreement in which we make a pledge to
live “together under the Gospel in such a way that the principle of
mutual affirmation and admonition becomes the basis of a trusting
relationship in which respect and love for the other will have a
chance to grow.”
People of all ethnicities and races—American Indians and Alaska
Natives, African Americans and Blacks, Asians and Pacific Islanders,
Arabs and Middle Easterners, Latinos and European Americans—took advantage of
the learning opportunities.
Purpose
To affirm the authenticity of God’s people working together in
solidarity, focusing on education, justice, and inclusiveness in

Acts 2:1-13
When the day of
Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly
from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it
filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of
fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of
them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other
languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. Now there were devout Jews
from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound
the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them
speaking in the native language of each . . . All were amazed and
perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” But others
sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.” |
