I. Ecumenism Through Education
Synopsis: Would you like to prick your congregation's interest in the ecumenical
issues? Consider viewing "Ecumenism Through Education" to see the relationships
that have developed between Lutheran and Catholic schools in Chicago and Youngstown, Ohio.
II. An
Abundant Life
Synopsis: To experience your congregation's outreach to the world, climb high into
the rugged Andean mountains of Peru for a visit with ELCA missionary Karen Helikson and
the Quechua people, many of whom live in dire poverty. Share in this vibrant lay ministry
in a country that has no official Lutheran Church. "We can share with the
people," says Helikson. "But the people also have things that they can share
with us."
III.
A New World Opens in Slovakia
Synopsis: A second global story, "A New World Opens in Slovakia," moves
viewers to the Evangelical Lyceum in Bratislava, where ELCA missionaries are teaching.
When the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, new doors of opportunity opened for both East and
West. The lyceum, which had been closed for many years during communist rule, reopened in
1991. Now it is among the country's most prominent high schools.
