Outreach: A Window to Victory
Synopsis: In 1995 voting members to the ELCA Churchwide Assembly in Minneapolis helped
create a faceted glass window for Feast of Victory Lutheran Church in Acme, Michigan.
There, a new building awaited its arrival. More than a work of art, the window and the
building itself symbolize the miracles that can happen when individuals, congregations,
synods and the whole Church work together through Mission Partners and Mission Builders.
II. A Lutheran School California Style
Synopsis: Christian Education is a part of every ELCA congregation. More than a
quarter million children ages three to eighteen spend their day in Lutheran schools. The
need for Christ centered education has never been more important. Grace Lutheran Church in
Huntington Beach, California is an example of an ELCA congregation that is deeply
committed to Christian education.
III. Voices of War
Synopsis: Conflict in the former Yugoslavia seems worlds away. Serbs, Croatians, Bosnians.
Few understand why violence erupted almost five years ago. The policy of "ethnic
cleansing" has forcibly displaced thousands of people. Since 1991, the ELCA has
teamed with Hungarian Inter-Church Aid, providing shelter, food, hope. MOSAIC introduces
two families who have been refugees since the war began. They are the voices of war...
