I. When the roof falls in...
Synopsis:  Several years ago, the church roof literally caved in on St. Andrew Redeemer, Detroit, one of 390 congregations the ELCA supports with the help of your benevolence dollars. Their historic building was destroyed, but what is amazing is that this seemingly tragic event became the catalyst for new ministry. It opened up the congregation to its neighborhood for worship, fellowship and through its unique development corporation, jobs! Here, MOSAIC helps you wonder if -- when the roof falls in -- it might just be the Holy Spirit knocking at the door.

II. Bringing back the Boomers
Synopsis: The Eastons identify themselves as baby boomers, that generation born during the 20 years following the end of World War II. It's a generation of people churches have been targeting for evangelism because, like the Eastons, many boomers have drifted from their religious roots. In this segment, MOSAIC explores with them and their pastor what brought Sue and Terry Easton back to the church. The president of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary adds -- perhaps sometimes controversial -- views on how congregations may attract people from a generation that, if it has been missing the gospel, could be ripe for evangelization.

III. From Poland, with love
Synopsis: This story is about a church-to-church and people to people program involving the ELCA, its outdoor ministries and the Lutheran churches of eastern Europe. The program offers young Lutherans from a number of former Soviet-block countries camp counselor experience in what is becoming one of our ministry exports. MOSAIC goes to New York City for their June, 1994, orientation with Division for Congregational Ministries outdoor ministry staff. We then follow three of these new friends to Camp EWALU, Strawberry Point, Iowa. There they join U.S. and other international staff in a season of leading and learning, often looking forward to the day when they will be a part of a ministry of camping in their own countries.
