ELCA Program Staff
Pastor Kim Erno, Program Director
  Kim Erno is an ordained ELCA pastor with more than 20 years of parish ministry experience. He has worked with various solidarity organizations related to El Salvador and Mexico. Before this assignment, he was a mission developer serving a Latino community in Washington, D.C.
   
Pastor Heidi Torgerson, Program Associate
  Heidi Torgerson is an ordained ELCA pastor serving her first call at the Lutheran Center. She has a background in faith-based community organizing and has worked on affordable housing, education funding reform, and immigrants’ rights issues in Minnesota and Illinois. Heidi also serves as Country Coordinator for the Young Adults in Global Mission volunteer program in Mexico.

Ms. Susana Juárez Toriz
  Susana Juárez Toriz has studied to be a professional translator and office administrator. Along with caring for many of the logistical details related to our immersion programming, Susana provides skilled accompaniment with groups and serves as a liason to projects promoting “solidarity economics”.
 
Mr. Erik Friend
 

Erik Friend offers support and coordination for program visits in the nearby city of Cuernavaca, where he lives with his family. Erik has a background in organizing small, worker-owned cooperative businesses. His most recent project is a cooperative that designs and constructs bicycles for those who have physical limitations.

   
Ms. Ariadna Méndez Hernández
  Ariadna Méndez Hernández is a student at the Universiad de las Américas (UDLA) in the city of Puebla where she is studying Latin American literature. She works with local labor organizing efforts in the Puebla area and accompanies ELCA program groups during school breaks.
