“When they heard
it, they raised their voices together to God . . .” Acts 4:24
The Lutheran Youth Organization
invites you to stop what you're doing and pray every Wednesday at 4:24pm,
no matter what time zone you're in.
Daily conversation with God is
important. Based on Acts 4:24, the 4:24 Prayer Campaign is
designed to provide youth and others with a time of intentional
prayer and reflection. Whether it is lifting silently the concerns of our
own hearts or joining together in a unified word, we encourage
each other to pray. Thus, at 4:24pm on Wednesdays, no matter
what time zone, you are invited to stop and pray.
The Lutheran Youth Organization called on all who gathered in
San Antonio for the 2006 ELCA Youth Gathering to pray at 4:24pm every day no matter where they
were or what they were doing—and they did! One minute you were
part of the noise of thousands, and the next, you could hear a
pin drop as all bowed their heads to spend a minute in silent
prayer.
The LYO Convention passed a resolution calling upon all of the
ELCA to join the young people of this church in the 4:24 Prayer
Campaign. Bishop Wm. Chris Boerger of the Northwest Washington
Synod said, "I re-learned the power of prayer from these young
leaders [at the Gathering]. They have put a challenge before us
and they are acting on it. Let's join them."
We invite you to continue in the 4:24 Prayer Campaign and to share it with
others.
