The Lutheran Youth
Organization...
lifting the voices of young people
The Lutheran Youth Organization
(LYO) is an organization of high-school age young people
who are members of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America. There are nearly 100,000 ELCA youth across the
United States and the Caribbean.
The LYO is
a place where the
voices of young people are lifted up in the church. This
ministry happens through a variety of ways in which young people discuss issues
of importance to them
concerning faith, youth ministry, the ELCA,
local communities, and
the
world.
2008 Council of Synod Lutheran
Youth Organization Presidents (CSLYOPs) to be hosted by
Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod
Proposed
major changes to the LYO mission and structure will be shared at
this meeting of CSLYOPs, and there will be time to receive and engage these
proposals together as a community. Synodical leaders will be
asked to share the proposed
LYO changes back in their synods to prepare their delegations to
vote on these changes at the
July 2009 LYO Convention in Hattiesburg, MS.
In light of 2009 being a very
full year, please note that we are beginning the planning
process for CSLYOPs 2009 so that we will be able to announce the

One young woman's
discovery of
vocation
and spiritual gifts through LYO

Everything we do is to be done
for the glory of God, including our work, relationships, caring
for others, and whatever we do in everyday life.
By involving herself in the
Lutheran Youth Organization and United Way during high school,
Chris Morgan was able to discover
her spiritual gifts of event planning and management, which
helped her find her
current vocation of working at United Way of Greater Cleveland.
