Family Returns Home
Hamulic Mehmed is married and
has three children. He and his family have returned to their village to
rebuild their life, but found that their house was in ruins from the
bombs. When LWF found them they were living in a small trailer on the
property, tending a large garden and had enrolled two of the children in
school. Funds, however, had run out for the enormous repairs necessary and
they had lost hope as winter was coming. LWF offered them hope and
materials to complete the work on their home.
Villages have been given concrete
mixers and other tools for house reconstruction. The villagers use
their own labor or cooperate with neighbors to rebuild their homes. We
(LWF) supply enough material so homes will have the basic living
conditions of a kitchen, bathroom, living room and enough sleeping
space for each family member. When the family actually moves into the
home, they receive a cooking stove. LWF has reconstructed and
furnished three schools in this area serving 425 children. Because LWF
was there, Hamulic has a home!
Prayer: Gracious and loving God, please
grant safe and welcome homecomings for refugee families everywhere as
they seek to rebuild their lives. Amen.
