About Us

The Regional Office for North America is governed by the larger body of the Lutheran World Federation. The highest decision-making body of the LWF is its Assembly, which is normally held every six years. The next Assembly will be held in Stuttgart, Germany in 2010. Between Assemblies the LWF is governed by a Council, which convenes annually, and by its Executive Committee, which also serves as the LWF Board of Trustees and LWF Personnel Committee. The Council  is comprised of the President, the Treasurer and 48 members to be elected by the Assembly.

The location of the LWF General Secretariat in the Ecumenical Center in Geneva, Switzerland, ensures close cooperation with the World Council of Churches and other Christian world communions, as well as international secular organizations. For more information about the LWF, visit the website.
