Types of Articles
Generally, manuscripts accepted for publication are non-fiction and written in prose. Articles in Lutheran Partners, while not as lengthy or as formal as articles published in journals, seek to intersect issues of life and ministry with the doctrines and practices of the church. Subject matter includes theological and doctrinal issues, biblical studies, pastoral care, preaching, music and worship, evangelism, global mission, urban/rural issues, and reviews of books and videos. Poetry is used. The editors will consider fiction for publication, though it is published infrequently.

The magazine welcomes unsolicited manuscripts, query letters, and phone calls. Editors solicit articles as well.

Written on the Heart

Length of Articles
Articles run from approximately 750-1,500 words.

Preparation
Manuscripts should be printed on letter-size paper (8½ X 11 inches), single-sided, one-inch margins, and double spaced in 10 or 12 point font size. We prefer receiving articles via e-mail.

Other Artistic Expressions
Though not frequently used, photographs, poetry, and drawings are also acceptable media for the magazine, especially as it seeks creative ways to express the theology of the church. Send query letters on prospective projects.

Decision to Publish
Decision to publish an article can take up to four months or longer. Please query the editor for status report.

Reimbursement
Payment is made on publication of article, photograph, and other artistic expression. Contact the magazine for information on payment ranges.

Authors' Rights
Copyright is held by the magazine's publisher, Augsburg Fortress Publishers, 100 South Fifth Street, Suite 600, PO. Box 1209, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55440-1209.

The publisher purchases one-time rights.

All letters to be published in Lutheran Partners print version must be signed.

While we wish to publish as many writers as possible — and at the same time, maintain control over the length of the Letter section — letters should be 600 words or less in length. Shorter letters are preferred. Those selected for publication may be excerpted in the interest of space. Contact the editors regarding manuscripts and queries about article ideas.
