Youth Leaders - Resources and Ideas |
|
Below are hunger-related resources for youth leaders.
Leaders can use them to plan events for youth groups, Sunday
schools, lock-ins, and other gatherings. [For more ideas,
see "Youth resources."] |

Sustaining Simplicity:
A Journal is a great, accessible introduction to
what it means to live simply. Order copies of this
journal and use the online leader's guide to facilitate
discussion about this important topic in a world driven
by the latest technology and all the stuff people
accumulate and the many ways we can become overwhelmed.

Help members of your youth group,
Sunday school, women's, men's and other congregational groups
break out of the frantic "spend-give" cycle of the holidays and
Christmas with gifts to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. This
catalog gives examples of how far even small amounts of money
can stretch when used by our church and its partners to help
people in need. This resource is
often used to put on "alternative giving fairs," in which
people "buy" symbolic gifts in honor of others to help
people who are hungry. |

This
youth-led ecumenical event mirrors the annual football game on a
Sunday in January or February and collects food and money for
people who are hungry. Youth traditionally stand outside
the sanctuary after worship on that Sunday and collect at least
$1 and/or one can of food from congregation members as they
leave worship.

about the event and find out how your congregation can
participate. |
