Forgiving the
Unforgivable
(Two-part series with Immaculée
Ilibagiza)
"Immaculée
Ilibagiza is an amazing woman. She
narrowly escaped death in the Rwandan
genocide of 1994 by hiding in the
bathroom of her pastor’s house for 91
consecutive days. In this compelling
interview, the first in a two-part
series, Immaculée gives an inside look
at the faith that carried her through a
horrific ordeal. She discusses the
mystery of hatred and the necessity of
Christian hope..."

and Jan. 27, 2008)
"Take a Breath"
It has been
said before that, “If I am hungry, this is
a physical problem. But if my neighbor is
hungry, that is a spiritual problem.” The
spiritual problem of people who live with
insufficient food, or who are food
insecure, has reached staggering
proportions. Knute Ogren is a young church
worker and musician who decided to record
a couple of CDs and donate all of the
proceeds to fight global hunger. Like so
many others, his contribution is (on its
way to) making a significant impact.

"The Perfect Silent
Crime"
According to
Senator George McGovern, the crisis of
chronic global hunger is inexcusable,
given the massive food wealth of so many
countries. One of every seven citizens in
the world struggles with severe
malnutrition and hunger. McGovern shares
his dream for ending this sorry state of
affairs.

"Dear God, We Need More Food"
Sometimes feeding the hungry
requires no sophisticated effort at all—no committees, no
agency, no special grant money—just commitment. Kay Fennell
has such commitment. Listen in on a conversation with this
woman who, with her husband, feeds hungry people on
Chicago’s Lower Wacker Drive.

Mosaic Television
interviewed Nancy Arnison, Director of the
ELCA World Hunger Program, and Rev. David
Beckmann, President of Bread for the
World. Arnison discusses the work of the
World Hunger Program in its primary
avenues: relief, development, education,
and advocacy. Beckman talks about the role
of Bread for the World and its partnership
with the ELCA, as well as the
"Hunger
No More" documentary.

"Take a Breath"
is a spoken-word piece by "A Bunch of Guys" from the New
England Synod (www.abunchofguys.org). The group has
recorded two CDs and contributed all proceeds to the
ELCA World Hunger Appeal; over $135,000 so far. Their
"Take a Breath" piece observes that a person dies of
hunger or hunger-related causes every 3.6 seconds, every
deep breath we take. [On the DVD, "Take a Breath" is joined with photos from East Africa.]
