Give members of your congregation the opportunity to help people
who have very little while they shop for Christmas presents this
year.
Lutheran World Relief, a major partner of ELCA World Hunger
in international relief and development, operates the Handcraft
Project, which gives you an opportunity to buy fairly traded
gifts from
SERRV International while supporting artisans from
developing countries--the same kind of people the ELCA, through
LWR, supports. Whole families benefit when artisans are able to
market their beautifully crafted products. You can buy angels
from Kenya, bells from India and chimes from Peru through the
project.Individual members can
purchase hand-made crafts when your congregation partners with
SERRV and distributes catalogs to members. Then project
contributes 10 percent of your congregation's total sales back
to you for further investment into ministry (or you can pass it
on to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal).
Participation in the LWR Handcraft
Project goes hand-in-hand with offering members alternative
gift-giving ideas with the ELCA Good Gifts
catalog.
