Application, Evaluation and Deployment Process
For Long Term Mission Personnel
- Candidate submits application by January 31.
- ELCA Global Mission staff requests recommendations
- ELCA Global Mission staff reviews application,
recommendations and gets to know candidate
- Candidate comes to ELCA Global Mission office in
Chicago for a day of interview and mutual discernment
- ELCA Global Mission staff meets after the
interview/discernment day to decide if there is a match and if a position will
be offered.
- ELCA Global Mission staff contact candidate to share if
ELCA will move forward with the candidate.
- ELCA Global Mission Staff conducts background check for
newly appointed mission personnel
- ELCA Global Mission Staff works with candidate to
arrange a psychological evaluation
- Candidate comes to ELCA Global Mission office in
Chicago for an appointment interview, at which time the position is formally
offered. (In some situations this appointment process may be done by mail.)
- Newly appointed mission personnel is in deployment
(preparation for departure) and works with ELCA Global Mission staff to
complete necessary documents.
- Orientation for new mission personnel in Chicago area
for the month of July.
- Depart for service in late summer or early autumn
(August or September).
