Mission Service Application
Thank you for your interest in international
mission service with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. ELCA Global
Mission provides opportunities for ministry and service with companion
churches and agencies in over 45 countries.
Completion of the Mission Personnel
Information form will begin the journey of exploration of mission service
with the ELCA. The process is intended to help you to discern if
international service is what God is calling you to do and to match your
gifts and skills with an appropriate assignment as available. See the

Please read through the entire Mission
Personnel Information form before you begin. Your responses will provide
ELCA Global Mission with essential information for the assessment and
appointment process.
The entire process from application to appointment varies greatly in
length. As a rule of thumb, the longer the service the longer it takes to
process candidates:
- Long-term service: minimum six months processing
time
- Nine months to two years service: allow four to six
months
- Less than nine months service: allow at least three
months
In some instances, a candidacy process can be moved
along more quickly, but this is neither ideal nor preferred, and it is
usually unsatisfactory for you and all concerned.
Upon receipt of your completed Mission Personnel
Information form, we will send you a letter of confirmation and more details
about the process. It is at this stage when a ELCA Global Mission staff
person will work more closely with you in deciding upon an appropriate
assignment as available.
