Application, Evaluation and Deployment Process
For English Teachers in China with the
Amity Foundation
- Candidate submits application by February 15.
- ELCA Global Mission staff requests recommendations
- ELCA Global Mission staff reviews application,
recommendations and gets to know candidate
- Candidate comes to ELCA Global Mission office in
Chicago for a day of interview and mutual discernment
- ELCA Global Mission staff meets after the
interview/discernment day to decide if a position will be offered.
- ELCA Global Mission staff contact candidate to share if
the position will be offered.
- Candidates who are offered a position respond in
writing to accept or decline the position.
- ELCA Global Mission staff forward candidate’s name on
to Church World Service for their approval in early April.
- ELCA Global Mission Staff conducts background check for
newly appointed teacher
- ELCA Global Mission Staff works with candidate to
arrange a psychological evaluation
- Newly appointed teacher is in deployment (preparation
for departure) and works with ELCA Global Mission staff and Church World
Service staff to complete necessary documents.
- Orientation and ESL instruction for China Amity
Teachers during June and July. (Church World Service will provide details.)
- Depart for service late July. (Church World Service
will help determine departure date.)
