The ELCA has contracted with HTH
Worldwide Insurance Services to provide international accident and
sickness insurance
coverage for international ELCA business, including international professors,
researchers, students, visitors, and other international guests; US Companion
Synod travelers going outside the United States; and other ELCA-sponsored
international travel.
For those coming to the United States, the
coverage surpasses the US government visa requirements for insurance. This
is a comprehensive protection plan that has been designed for individuals
outside of their home countries while engaged in official business or
educational activities.
Enrollment
All enrollments should be processed through a synod office, seminary, or an
ELCA Churchwide unit, as appropriate; each has its own username and
password. If a synod does not yet have a user name and password, please
call the phone number on the HTH website below.
Current rates, new
enrollments, certificates of insurance and claim forms can be obtained at
the HTH Advisors
web site and click the "Rosters" tab at the top of the page
Non-official ELCA visitors may request an
individual insurance plan from HTH. Individual policies have a variety of
coverages and costs, depending upon the selected plan.
Once on the enrollment
page at the HTH web site, Information you will
need for
enrollment is:
- Your username and password
- Name of enrollee
- Begin and end dates of
enrollment period
- Date of birth
- Gender
- Home Country and Host Country
- Visa type (for visitors to the
United States)
Upon submission, wait for three
days, go back on the system; click "enrollments"; click
the person's name; click "Print ID Card" and the
"Invoice."

ID Numbers
Certificate ID number are assigned when enrolling on-line. The
account is determined using the "rosters"
listing the 65 Synods, 8 seminaries, ELCA Global Mission and the Division for Congregational Ministries. This will in turn assist in the handling of Explanation of Benefit (EOB) notices
that come to ELCA Global Mission, from which they can be forwarded to the appropriate desk.
