2008 Global Mission Lenten Series

Global Companions: Who Is My Neighbor?

WELCOME!
ELCA Global Mission is pleased to provide this Lenten Worship Series, "Global Companions: Who Is My Neighbor?" as a gift to congregations for use during Lent, either at mid-week services or for during Sunday worship. This is the fifth resource ELCA Global Mission has provided for web distribution only. New for 2008 is an Easter Sunday resource from Jerusalem.

What is provided?
The series provides the following resources for a six part, plus Holy Week, series of worship services:

  1. A sermon written by an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America mission personnel.
  2. Worship, prayers, and hymn suggestions from the countries represented. These are offered as examples from some global companions as they find expression of our shared faith. They are not official ELCA worship materials.
  3. Bulletin Covers are provided for each week. Each week’s bulletin includes information about the missionary being featured, some of the work in which the missionary is engaged and other ELCA work in the region, and how congregations and/or individual members may become more involved in global mission.
  4. PowerPoint of images from the missionary. This can be used as appropriate as part of the week's theme presentation.
  5. Lenten Supper Suggestions. If you have a Lenten Supper for mid-week services, we have included recipes for each week.
  6. Global Mission Resources These include general global mission information, stewardship resources, ways to serve with global mission, and other growth opportunities with the ELCA’s global mission work.
