Palestine Church Needs - Schools
Schools of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land - ELCJHL

Palestine is the cradle of Christianity. The ELCJHL operates five schools, which are the backbone of Palestinian education and offer a quality education for Christians and non-Christians alike. Two secondary and three primary schools serve almost 2,300 students.

The church has attempted to make it a priority to make its schools affordable for even the poorest families and it subsidizes 70 percent of the $1,270 tuition. But inflation, largely a result of the shaky political situation, has put tuition out of reach for poorer families.

The recent conflict has made things even more difficult. Many families have been deprived of normal income and has made even the small tuition payments an extreme hardship. Some children will not attend school because they cannot pay the fees. Teachers are not being paid because there is no money.
