Introduction
In August 2001, the Churchwide Assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America passed “Toward a Vision for Evangelism in the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: Sharing Faith in a New
Century.“ The resolution invites and encourages the ELCA in all its
congregations and ministry sites to “recommit itself to making
disciples for Jesus Christ, share the ‘Call to Discipleship,’ commit
itself to pray for our evangelism ministries through prayer
services, prayer ministry teams and prayer partners, learn from
global partners, and establish and share new or existing Evangelism
plans prior to the 2003 Churchwide Assembly.“ |
