Charter of the Lutheran - Moravian Coordinating Committee

Name
The group shall be called the "Lutheran-Moravian Coordinating Committee." Each church body will be represented by three persons, one of whom will be a staff person for ecumenical matters, or a person appointed to carry out such responsibilities. Attention will be given to lay participation. Each of the members will serve at the will of the individual parent body, and a pattern of rotation will be formulated. The committee will meet at least annually.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Lutheran-Moravian Coordinating Committee will be:

  • To ensure that commitments made in Following Our Shepherd to Full Communion be carried out, and serve as a forum for mission possibilities;
  • To address matters that require internal legislative decision-making and refer them to the appropriate decision-making bodies of the participating churches;
  • To address matters related to programs to the appropriate units of the participating churches, encouraging them to fulfill these specific tasks, and asking for regular progress reports;
  • To address ongoing relationship issues for the participating churches and to facilitate inter-church activities;
  • To propose national events for the participating churches;
  • To develop a pattern of representation between the two participating churches; and
  • To report annually to the participating churches on the status of inter-church activities.
