Lutheran - Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Dialogue Formal dialogue with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) began in the very recent past. Unlike other dialogues that began more than thirty years ago, the initial meetings of a dialogue allow for general introductions that become more specific over time. These allows all participants to learn about and appreciate the historical richness of each denomination. The ELCA and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) met for the first time in April 2004 with an initial series of papers exploring a common understanding of Holy Communion. A great deal of agreement was reached. The dialogue will undertake further discussion beginning in 2007, with specific consideration of the sacrament of Holy Baptism.
