National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. (NCCC)
The ELCA is engaged in NCCC national ministries, ranging from poverty and family ministries to environmental and education issues. Furthermore, through Church World Service – another ministry resource of the NCCC – many ELCA congregations participate annually in local CropWalk events, the proceeds of which go to aid world (75%) and local (25%) anti-hunger projects. Finally, the NCC also hosts the national Faith and Order Commission. The Faith and Order Commission allows for members from diverse church bodies to gather for study and discernment. Current studies include: The Authority of the Church in the World, the ecumenical meaning of Full Communion, and differing conceptualizations of the human person. Visit the Faith and Order Commission at the NCCC Web site for more information.
