Conciliar Ecumenism

The ecumenical movement today includes a wealth of ecumenical actors, including Conciliar Bodies such as the National Council of Churches in Christ, Christian Churches Together in the USA, the Lutheran World Federation, and the World Council of Churches.

The quest for Christian unity in the world is too important for only a small group of people. Unity requires voices from around the nation, and around the world. Conciliar bodies allow a platform where these voices are clearly spoken, heard and understood. In our conciliar relationships, the ELCA invites the church to discussion, reflection, and action. All who are interested in ecumenical life in the ELCA will discover more of this church’s commitments in the pages below.

Strong participation is needed in our conciliar relationships in order to carry forward the work of Christian unity and understanding. Explore!

The Ecumenical Justice Partners Network (EJPN) had a consultation on anti-bias in children at the Presbyterian Seminary in Louisville, KY . August 25-26, 2006.
