The record-breaking 2005 hurricane season included 26 named storms, 13 of which were hurricanes, and caused total insured losses of over $47 billion. The most powerful storms of the season were Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma which caused wide-spread damage throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Texas.
Disasters give God''s people an opportunity to serve in significant ways. When Hurricane Katrina first struck, the response of Lutheran donors was amazing, even overwhelming. Now, we hope that you will renew your commitment to this unprecedented response through an unprecedented second appeal campaign.
