A series of heavy storms have swept through the Midwest, causing extensive flooding and damage in Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin. The floods have destroyed homes, damaged schools and camps, and displaced thousands of people. The death toll after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in the south-western province of Sichuan is more 70,000, with some 18,000 missing and 5 million left homeless. Aftershocks continue months after the intial earthquake, causing more casualties and causing continued fear among the population.
