"Remember
the sabbath day, to keep it holy. |

Six days
you shall labor, and do all your work; |
| 10 |
but the
seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; in it
you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your
daughter, your manservant, or your maidservant, or
your cattle, or the sojourner who is within your
gates; |

for in
six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and
all that is in them, and rested the seventh day;
therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and
hallowed it. |

Deuteronomy 8:1-11 |

"All
the commandments which I command you this day you shall
be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go
in and possess the land which the LORD swore to give to
your fathers. |

And you
shall remember all the ways which the LORD your God has
led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he
might humble you, testing you to know what was in your
heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. |

humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna,

he might make you know that man does not live by bread
alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds
