For the church
Merciful God, we thank you for the Lutheran Church in the Philippines and the
mission established there in the name of your Son where Christianity continues
to grow. Bless the Lutherans in the Philippines and in our country as we work
together to spread the Good News about your love and compassion.
For current needs
Gracious God, we pray for everyone in the Philippines as they work to rebuild
their economy and combat problems with deforestation, soil erosion, and air and
water pollution in Manila. Strengthen them in their efforts and help them find
ways to organize their economic system in a way that will promote unity and
stability.
For those serving
Great and Loving God, we ask for your continuing support of the work done by
your servants in the Philippines as the church strives to spread the Good News
of your everlasting love and for-giveness. Guide them as they communicate in
many languages and help them embrace the blessings offered by Christians around
the world so that we might understand and pass on the diverse ways in which your
love comes to us.
For global relationships
God of compassion, we give thanks for the ministry that is carried out in your
name across the world. We rejoice for opportunities to learn more about those
children of yours who might live far away from us so that their part of the
world might become closer to us. Guide us to embrace these opportunities as we
relate to the Lutheran Church in the Philippines through prayer and
communication, that we might find new meaning in these global connections.
For church leadership
God of Wisdom, your insight and guidance fill our lives. Show us new ways to
understand your power and presence within us. Thank you for the church in the
Philippines and for those who continue to share your message. Help those
preaching and ministering to more than 25,000 members of the church, that they
might understand and share the Holy Gospel in order to strengthen your ministry
in the Philippines.
For open hearts
God our Creator, you make all people part of your family. You make all that is
good in our lives and fill us with your everlasting love. Bless us as we learn
more about our sisters and brothers in the Philippines. Help us to embrace our
common blessing in serving you. Open our eyes to the gifts you give us in each
other. Guide us to build bridges between our cultures and our churches. We ask
these things in the name we name together, your precious Son, Jesus Christ.
