CIUDAD JUAREZ MURDERS

Since 1993, over 450 young women have been violently killed in Ciudad Juarez – across the border from El Paso, Texas. In the past ten years, Mexico has done little to prevent or investigate these crimes. Recent international pressure has forced Mexico to take notice of this tragedy.

EFFECTS OF NAFTA ON MEXICAN ECONOMY TWELVE YEARS LATER

Analysis of the effects of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) over the past 12 years shows that it has destroyed more jobs than it has created and worsened poverty and inequity for the majority of Mexicans. Statistics show that Mexico is losing its food sovereignty and instead has increased its dependency on more expensive imports.

BORDER FENCING WILL CREATE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR MIGRANTS AND FURTHER IMPERIL ENDANGERED SPECIES

A triple fence proposed for parts of the US border with Mexico will push migrants toward more dangerous desert crossings, causing more deaths and increasing environmental degradation along with further loss of endangered species. If erected, the fence would be two and one half times as long as the Berlin Wall and longer than any existing fence.
