Colombia - Prayer Ventures
For the church
Merciful God, we thank you for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Colombia and
the mission established there in the name of your Son where Christianity
continues to grow. Bless the Lutherans in Colombia and in our country as we work
together to spread the Good News about your love and compassion.
For current needs
Gracious God, we pray for everyone in Colombia as they continue to struggle with
illegal drug operations, violence related to drug trafficking, and broken ties
to the outside world. We pray especially for the families of those who have lost
their lives in political, economic, and social unrest. Strengthen them in their
efforts and help them find ways to heal the wounds that have been left in the
wake of these struggles. Pray for a swift end to armed conflict among various
parties in Colombia.
For those serving
Great and Loving God, we ask for your continuing support of the work done by
missionaries in Colombia as the church strives to spread the Good News of your
everlasting love and forgiveness. Guide them as they communicate with others and
help them embrace the blessings offered by Christians around the world so that
we might understand and pass on the diverse ways in which your love comes to us.
For companion relationships
God of compassion, we give thanks for the Companion Synod Program of the ELCA
which allows ELCA synods and congregations to develop more personal
relationships with our global Christian neighbors. We pray especially for the
ELCA synod in Southeastern Minnesota as they relate to the church in Colombia
through prayer and communication, that they might find new meaning in these
global connections.
For church leadership
God of Wisdom, your insight and guidance fill our lives. Show us new ways to
understand your power and presence within us. Thank you for the church in
Colombia and for those who continue to share your message. Help those preaching
and ministering to the thousands of members in the church, that they might
understand and share the Holy Gospel in order to strengthen your ministry in
Colombia.
For open hearts
God our Creator, you make all people part of your family. You make all that is
good in our lives and fill us with your everlasting love. Bless us as we learn
more about our sisters and brothers in Colombia. Help us to embrace our common
blessing in serving you. Open our eyes to the gifts you give us in each other.
Guide us to build bridges between our cultures and our churches. We ask these
things in the name we name together, your precious Son, Jesus Christ.
COLOMBIA PRAYER
Lord of Life, You made us in your image to reflect your light and your truth.
Thank you for the many departed friends involved in peacemaking in Colombia.
Bless our ministries of peacemaking, inspire us through their witness. Comfort
with your grace all who mourn and bring us all at last to that day when we stand
in your presence with your saints in light eternal through Jesus Christ, our
Prince of Peace. Amen
