Chile - Prayer Ventures
For the church
Merciful God, we thank you for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile and the
mission established there in the name of your Son where Christianity continues
to grow. Bless the Lutherans in Chile and in our country as we work together to
spread the Good News about your love and compassion.
For current needs
Gracious God, we pray for everyone in Chile as they work to sustain a growing
economy and create even more jobs for those with fewer opportunities than
others. Strengthen them in their efforts and help them find ways to come
together so that they will not join with the countries of the world who seek to
solve problems through violence and bloodshed. For all other cares that might be
upon the hearts of our Chilean brothers and sisters, we lift them up to you.
For those serving
Great and loving God, we ask for your continued support of all your servants in
Chile. We especially remember those who provide ministry to the poor and
oppressed. Strengthen and support their work to defend human rights and to
provide for basic human needs. Make them a beacon of your love and care for the
people of Chile.
For companion relationships
God of compassion, we give thanks for the Companion Synod Program of the ELCA
which allows ELCA synods and congregations to develop more personal
relationships with our global Christian neighbors. We pray especially for the
ELCA synod in Indiana/Kentucky as they relate to the church in Chile through
prayer and communication, that they might find new meaning in these global
connections.
For church leadership
God of Wisdom, your insight and guidance fill our lives. Show us new ways to
understand your power and presence within us. Thank you for the church in Chile
and for those who continue to share your message. Help those preaching and
ministering to the 25,000 members of the church, that they might understand and
share the Holy Gospel in order to strengthen your ministry in Chile.
For open hearts
God our Creator, you make all people part of your family. You make all that is
good in our lives and fill us with your everlasting love. Bless us as we learn
more about our sisters and brothers in Chile. Help us to embrace our common
blessing in serving you. Open our eyes to the gifts you give us in each other.
Guide us to build bridges between our cultures and our churches. We ask these
things in the name we name together, your precious Son, Jesus Christ.
