Cameroon - Prayer Ventures
For the church
Merciful God, thank you for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon where
Christianity is alive and growing quickly. Bless the Lutherans in Cameroon and
in our country as we work together to help spread the Good News about your love.
For current needs
God of healing, we pray for the people of Cameroon in their growing need in the
face of the spread of AIDS throughout their country. Help them gain the
information necessary to prevent infection, and heal the hearts of those for
whom it is already too late. We ask you blessing for continued work in the areas
of primary health care, clean water, and adequate nutrition in this country.
For those serving
Great and loving God, we ask that you would continue to work through
missionaries serving in Cameroon to spread the Good News of your love and
forgiveness. Open their hearts as they communicate in many languages, such as
Gbaya and French, that they may receive the blessings and gifts of other
Christians around the world, so that we who pray can know of the diverse ways in
which your love comes to us.
For companion relationships
God of compassion, we give thanks for the Companion Synod Program of the ELCA,
which allows ELCA synods and congregations to develop a more personal
relationship with our global Christian neighbors. We pray especially for the
South Dakota Synod, as they relate to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Cameroon.
For church leadership
God of grace, your love and forgiveness fills our lives. Show us new ways to
understand your power and presence in our midst. Thank you for the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Cameroon and for those who share your message. Help those who
are leaders in the ELCC; for President Thomas Nyiwe and for the 55 pastors who
work to serve the over 167 congregations of this church. Pray that many more may
hear your call to lead the people of this church to hear the words of your grace
and love.
For women
Just as the women's organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon
offers prayers for each other each week, we lift up prayers for their endeavors.
We remember the women who receive training in social and domestic services,
fellowship and spiritual encouragement at two women's centers, offering them
life and hope through the name of Jesus Christ. May the "Women of
Christ" in Cameroon continue to be a beacon of light to their communities.
For open hearts
Creator God, you make all people part of your family. Bless us as we learn more
about our sisters and brothers in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon.
Connect us as we find our common blessing in serving you. Open our eyes to the
gifts you give us in each other. Help us build bridges between our cultures and
our churches. We ask these things in the name we name together, your Son, Jesus
Christ.
