C.P. Harry ("father of the U.S. Lutheran student movement") Dr. Harry graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, was ordained in 1911 and, after serving Holy Spirit Church, Reading, Pennsylvania, became campus pastor for the Philadelphia area colleges and universities. From 1922-46 he was secretary in charge of college and university work for the United Lutheran Church in America Board of Education. There, teaming with Mary Markley, Mildred Winston and Gould Wickey, he helped guide the church's colleges and university student work, being fondly remembered by several generations as the "father of the U.S. Lutheran student movement." He died in 1958.
