| This large group
celebration sets the stage for a Searchlight event. It introduces
the story of the Wise men as the key text for discovering the power
of God's presence and the significance of following God's lead. It
also provides an overview of the entire program and a context for
moving through its various components. Searchlight is set in the
context of a journey and Ali, a playful personification of one of
the Wise Men's camels will set the pace for the journey and bring it
to its noble conclusion in Bethlehem.

Trace the star design from the
Searchlight pattern sheet onto an overhead transparency. Use the
poster board to make at least one large white star to hang or
display in the center of your room. Other smaller stars may be made
out of yellow or white paper to define a stage area or decorate the
room.
Scan through the script and decide
how the character of Ali, the camel will be portrayed. Recruit the
number of youth and adults necessary for the costume and the
speaking parts. You may wish to have someone do a dramatic reading
of the script while the people within the camel costume make
gestures appropriate to the content of the dialogue. Schedule a time
to rehearse the skit in the stage area you will be using for the
actual presentation. Gather the costumes and accessories necessary
for portraying the camel.
Make a sample

also wish to display this song on poster board, using pictures or
symbols for the young children to follow. |
