Christian Education Network

Synod Staff and Network Leaders                           Synodical Network Leaders

There are thousands of volunteer and professional leaders who are serving Christian Education in the ELCA in a variety of contexts and ministries. Among them, there are two or more representatives from each synod who have been identified to be Synod Network Leaders. They serve individual synods as advocates and messengers in partnership with the ELCA Churchwide Christian Education Team.

Synod Network Leaders attend national or Churchwide gatherings to gain insight and share updates and support with other synodical leaders. They also receive Edunet newsletters and e-notes filled with information to pass on to people who are involved in Christian education in their own synods.

Many Synod Network Leaders also work with a committee or team in their own synod that is devoted to supporting leaders and enriching educational ministries through special programs and events. They are called and gifted to be keynote presenters, workshop leaders, connectors and consultants. A listing of Synod Network Leaders is available below.

Please feel free to contact Diane Monroe, Coordinator for the Christian Education Network if you have any questions or needs for clarification. (800) 638-3522, x 2557 or diane.monroe@elca.org

Special Task for Christian Education Synodical Network Leaders in 2006:

To partner in the establishment of a strong identity and
more integrated voice for Christian Education in the ELCA.

To do so, we will:

  • Provide a more comprehensive point of reference for tending Christian education in the ELCA.

  • Create a Churchwide data base for educational leadership within a variety of contexts for ministry within each synod using the following tools and electronic resource support.

  • Complete an Annual Report of Synodical Activities, Trends, and Concerns to characterize educational ministries in the ELCA and provide direction for its overall ministry. You may also wish to view your Synodical Trend Report which is based on the collation of parochial reports submitted by congregations in your synod in a given year. A Churchwide Report based on the submissions of all ELCA congregations is also available.
