The purpose is to help
parents and grandparents foster a culture of discipleship in the home
through simple activities based on the seven faith practices. Disciples
are not born. They are formed in a community that learns, encourages,
prays, and worships together. This process of spiritual growth and
transformation continues as disciples of all ages become apostles (those
that are sent) on God’s mission to love, serve, and witness in the home,
community, workplace, and world!
Some ideas how the
calendar can be used:
-Give to new members, visitors, parents of newly baptized; have copies
available in your narthex or children’s ministry area
-Laminate and use the calendars as place mats.
-Let the ideas from the calendar prompt conversation and action for congregational meals, meetings, or as a gathering activity for any event
-Notify early childhood centers or day schools in your area of the
calendar’s availability
-Share the Web address with families through the congregational
newsletter, Web site, or Sunday bulletin
-Copy and distribute to all teachers and other Christian education
leaders. Invite them to pick one activity each week as a model of how
the calendar may be used at home
