Flower Matching
For younger campers, this game
provides a good introduction to the wide diversity of flowers. It is set up as a simple matching game, in
which the campers need to turn over two cards and find a matching pair of the
flowers on the back. Instead of cards,
we affixed photos of flowers to small log discs with a clear
glue. To play the matching game with a
large group, spread bottle caps (representing pollen) in a grassy area. The campers must collect five bits of pollen
before they are able to make another guess at a match. The game generally moves pretty quickly, and
often the campers interest is high enough that I
repeat it a few times.
